What is Mac OS 9.0.4 US?-Addresses specific hardware issues in 9.0.2 & 9.0.3-FireWire 2.3.3 bug fix with certain DV camcorders and FW hard drives-OpenTransport 2.6.1 to address an exploit bug allowing DoS attacks-USB 1.4.2 in MacOS ROM file-Addressed sound issue upon waking from sleep mode-New audio extension Sound Manager and CD/DVD driver. Boot into the Mac running OS 9. Load up the OS 9 CD or mount the OS 9 iso. Connect USB thumb drive. Using Drive Setup, initialize the USB thumb drive to Mac OS Extended. Install OS 9 on the thumb drive as if it were a HDD. Copy the OS 9 iso and Toast installer to the USB drive. Mac OS 9.2.2 Mac OS 9.2.2 is the update for Mac OS 9.2.1 users. It updates the Classic Environment application compatibility in Mac OS X and updates most enhancements. Custom Variants of Mac OS 9.2.2 Bootable Image for PowerMac MDD This is a copy of Mac OS 9.2.2 for the PowerMac G4 MDD, by oakbog. There is no official way to run OS X on a virtual machine in Windows. The Apple EULA clearly states under section 2 B that you're allowed to: (iii) to install, use and run up to two (2) additional copies or instances of the Apple Software within virtual operating system environments on each Mac Computer you own or control that is already running the Apple Software, for purposes of: (a. Altough, there is a newer version of Mac OS 9.2.2 universal boot disk compiled in 2013 that is supposed to support most G3 and G4 models, it really doesn't boot a lot of them, while this 2002 one does. Before you download Mac OS 9.1 Update, please be certain that you have read the system requirements for this update.

System Requirements:

  • International English Mac OS 9.0 or higher
  • Any PowerPC-based Apple computer with at least 32 MB of physical RAM, with virtual memory set to at least 64 MB.
    Note: Third party PowerPC upgrade cards are not supported

Compatibility Information:

Mac OS 9.1 and Mac OS X Public Beta - Important: The Mac OS X Public Beta and Mac OS 9.1 are not compatible. If you install Mac OS 9.1, the Classic environment in the Mac OS X Public Beta will no longer function.

Option 2 - Order CD
Apple recognizes that for many customers, downloading the update may not be convenient. Apple is offering the Mac OS 9 to Mac OS 9.1 Software Update program to allow customers who own any version of Mac OS 9 to obtain the Mac OS 9.1 full install CD. Details and an order form are available at www.apple.com/macos/

Note: If you have any of the following Macintosh computers:

  • Power Macintosh 6100 series
  • Power Macintosh 7100 series
  • Power Macintosh 8100 series
  • Power Macintosh 8115
  • Workgroup Server 6150
  • Workgroup Server 8150
  • Workgroup Server 9150
