An upgrade to free Mac OS X editor TextWrangler is now available for download. TextWrangler 2.1.1 includes a slew of bug fixes and security updates and is recommended for all current 2.1 users. Download TextWrangler for Mac to powerful general purpose text editor, and Unix and server administrator's tool. You can download TextWrangler 5.5.2 for Mac from our software library for free. This Mac download was checked by our antivirus and was rated as clean. Textwrangler4.5.dmg, textwrangler4.5.1.dmg, textwrangler4.5.2.dmg, textwrangler4.5.3.dmg and textwrangler4.5.4.dmg are the most frequent filenames for this program's installer. TextWrangler is now part of BBEdit. We have sunsetted TextWrangler, and BBEdit has changed to make room for TextWrangler users. You can use BBEdit instead; it’s still free to use the same set of features that TextWrangler provided. Please see our Q&A on switching to BBEdit from TextWrangler.

Like TextWrangler, BBEdit is free to download and use. There’s a set of advanced features that you can pay for — if you want to. But you’re not required to pay anything if TextWrangler has been doing the job for you.
When you start using BBEdit, there’s a 30-day period during which you can use all of BBEdit’s advanced features. When that period ends, BBEdit goes into “Free Mode”, in which it offers all of the features that TextWrangler had — and then some — at no charge.
